Drive out of Bala on the A494 Dolgellau road, with the lake on your left.

About 4 miles from Bala look out for 40 mile speed restriction sign marked 'Llanuwchllyn'. 

 Immediately after you go over the bridge crossing the River Lliw (signposted), turn sharp right.

Go past the caravan site on your right and continue for about a further half mile.

Turn first left to Hafod-y-Haidd; it is signposted from this point onwards.

If you arrive at a 'phone box and bridge', you've gone too far.
